I learned something cool today. If you start biking on the Burke Gilman trail at Matthews Beach (NE 93rd) and ride north for 4 miles, you end up at looking at a neat strip mall that has: 3rd Place Books, Skippers (don't laugh, Sky), a Dryers Ice Cream store, and many other fun places. I'm thinking that it would be fun (not to mention a nice break up of a fairly long trip) to ride up there, go into the 3rd place bookstore (which I have heard really good things about), and maybe visit the ice cream place... It's a thought for sometime in the future...

I also had my first toe-clip accident of the season. I was trying to get from the parking lot to the path (which has a very narrow and oddly directed handicap access ramp). I was coming from the wrong angle so unclipped one foot so that I could turn my bike. Unfortunately, I overbalanced on the other side and fell over before I could unclip that foot... My leg landed on the curb, so I'm really lucky that all I seem to have is a really bad bruise. Inconvienient... I'm pretty sure it isn't worse because I walked on it for a bit then did my ride. right now it's more stiff than anything. Not too bad unless I stretch the bruised muscles or bump my leg (bad coffee table!)...

I also got the drip system in the back flower beds put in. There is on part that is Jeri-rigged, but it will work until I can get the correct part ordered from the company. Of course, Home Despot does not carry the correct part and can't order it for me. And Lowe's carrys a different brand. i don't know if that other brand even has this line of drip stuff... (it's a thin walled 1/2" laser drilled drip line. i think it is specialized...) But at least I can water. Next I'll work on getting drip going for the main flowerbed in the front. I have ulterior motives. It makes watering easier for someone else when we are on vacation. I just have to say, "can you come over and turn the water on for ___minutes and pet the cat?" instead of, "can you water the labeled plants for me?" (which is about a bazilion...)

Now I just think I want to lay down and bond with an icepack...

Today on KUOW's "on the beat" program, they featured the Gameboy Music Match. A team of New York gameboy music players was up against an Austrian Team. This webpage has a listen link for some of the music be patient as quite a bit of the dialogue is in German. Lucky the music isn't, eh?

Here is the link for the The Next Big Thing where the beat got the story from, in case you, too, want to do more research... (my brother was intrigued, but didn't actually hear the story, so I did a bunch of research for him...)
