Our houseguest is safely home, and we haven't had any more problems with the plumbing... :-) Sunday night, we were out and about and decided to stop by Mark and Tom's place. It was good to see them. Mark showed off his new computer and Tom (of course) showed us his newest gun. Mark said he was just on his way over to Gene and Mike's, so we followed him over. It was a pleasant surprise to also see [livejournal.com profile] kehf, [livejournal.com profile] dehd, Auntie, and Valentine there as well. Since we had already eaten, we just visited while everyone else ate.

Then we watched a Japanese anime called Steam Boy. It was... odd... The pictures were very pretty, but I have a hard time watching the prettyness of the pictures when I'm trying to follow the subtitles. I always end up with a headache after trying to follow subtitles. I also needed some HUGE suspenders of disbelief... The way steam worked in their universe broke SO many rules... They lost me after the first steam explosion didn't send the people in it's path screaming because they were now scalded over their entire bodies... Having gotten burns by merely pouring boiling water out of a pan into the sink, I was quite unimpressed. But that was ok. We were all watching and laughing at parts of the movie. So, while I might not have enjoyed it on my own, it was much better because of the company... :-)

Yesterday was nice. Very quiet and relaxing. I spent a good portion of the day reading my Harry Potter book... I'm getting close to being done! Unfortunately, that means I didn't sew. Or stamp. Or do the paid work I was going to... Oh well! It was nice to have a day with my boy. Oh, and then we shared the rest of the day with Sky and, eventually, J'wyl! J'wyl was in Santa Barbara visiting family and Sky was going to go down and pick her up. So he came to our house several hours early to hang out. We went for a nice long and hilly walk over in Hamblin Park, came back and listened to the Spamalot sound track, went to Fry's and windowshopped for a while, then picked J'wyl up at the airport. Going out to dinner afterward, we hit a bit of a snag. We were going to go to Mr. Gyros. So we got there and it was closed... nooooooooooo!!!!!! Duh! Hello!?!? Labor Day?!?!? Oh well.

So we ate at Outback instead. MMmmmm... It was VERY good! My meal was all about blue cheese. I had the chopped blue cheese salad (not at all what I was expecting, but nummy none the less!) and the Virginia's center cut with blue cheese on it. The waitress was also nice and brought me blue cheese sauce to put on my veggies. I've never tried that combo, but it was really good! The blue cheese was also realy good on the steak, but I don't know if I'll do that one again. it was a really nice cut of meat and the blue cheese hid most of the flavor of the good cut. I think the blue cheese would be fabulous on a not-so-nice cut of meat! :-)

Anyway, I'm pretty sure they made it home safe. We're up and at it this morning. Jeff is riding the bus up to Everett to see what it's like. (there's an express that goes almost to where he works!) It won't be feasible every day, but we'll see. me? I'm spending the day doing paid work, grocery shopping, and getting ready for school to start tomorrow...

Best get to it!
