May. 8th, 2006 12:19 amWe made it safely to Utah on Saturday. The drive was quite pleasant with very little in the way of traffic. We made it in about 12 hours... :-)
The very first thing we did was go to dinner with my cousin, her fiance, and all the family in town. It was a lot of fun catching up with cousins and aunts and uncles and such. And Allison's fiance (almost husband!) is very cool. I like it when my family marries cool people! :-)
So, just for those trying to figure out the whole family thing, my cousin getting married is on my mom's side. we, however, are staying with my dad's mom while we are here (we figured it would be less hectic for my aunt and uncle). We have bunches of family on both sides here in Utah. Especially right now. Remember. I don't have a family, I have a clan! :-)
So, Sunday was all about visiting with my dad's family. We had 12 people around the table for Sunday dinner. It was all about laughter and family stories. I also met my cousin Shelly's new husband. He's also very cool.
Tomorrow is going to be way busy, with lots of eating out. Denny's for breakfast (family tradition. We HAVE to go to Denny's at least once while in Utah!). Brick Oven pizza for lunch. Mom and Dad have a wedding dinner for the adults to go to. Diane and I will hang out on campus for the afternoon. Grandma and Kevin will meet us at BYU for dinner at the Malte Shoppe (yummy shakes that you can mix and match your favorite flavors!). Then it's off to hang out with my dad's brother and his family for the evening.
Tuesday is all about Allison's wedding. Mom and dad are going to go way early. And Diane, Kevin, and I can't go to the actual ceremony anyway because it's in the Temple. So we're going to take the light rail up and meet everyone for pictures afterward. Then we'll go out to dinner before the reception in the evening.
Wednesday we'll be heading back to Portland.
Yup. Busy for sure! But WAY fun! (and we're on dialup, so I'm mostly out of communication on the email front... :-)
