Aug. 21st, 2006 10:13 amI had a nice workout at Curves this morning. I still spend a bunch of time stiff and sore after my workouts, but I can definitely feel a difference. It's easier to do my bike riding and I'm not nearly as sore after a long walk as I used to be... Anyway, I had fun this morning because I chatted with one of the other ladies there as well as the manager. I got to wish her good morning in Norwegen (which is where she grew up), which surprised and delighted her. After I finished, I chatted some more with her about stretches and running (how we both dislike it!) and dancing and belly dancing. I really enjoy being able to visit with people other than myself and Jeff, but I finally had to leave to get my grocery shopping done. I spent a bit more than usual, but only because I'm buying 2 weeks worth of some stuff. That way Jeff won't have to do as much grocery shopping while I'm gone. My backpack was really heavy by the time I was done, and I was wishing that I had brought the pannier bags to put on my bike...
I can't believe I leave on Wednesday! I have classes and workshops Wednesday/Thursday/Friday in Portland. Then, on Saturday, my family and I hop in the van and drive to Utah. We're combining taking my sister back to BYU with family reunion and my cousin's wedding. Jeff will be flying out on the 30th to join us for the wedding. Then we all drive back Monday (Labor Day). It will be particularly long for Jeff and I because we have to drive from Portland to Everett after driving from Utah to Portland... Oh well. It will be worth it! :-)
Last weekend was pretty cool, even if it was way busy.
Saturday I started off with my card class. It was fun to hang out with J'wyl and Priscilla. Afterward, J'wyl, Jeff, Sky, Jarred, and I all carpooled down to Ballard for the Taipan bowling party. It was a tight fit getting all of us in the Forrester... I felt like a sardine... :-) Bowling was fun, even if I sucked more than usual. The company was great and the fries and chocolate milkshake were really yummy. Writer's night after the bowling party was also fun. Lots of silly comments and good stories. Too bad it ended really late.
Sunday we got to go to the Boeing Family Fun Day with the Pawtawski's and some of the other Taipan people. That was really cool! That building is just HUGE!!! It was fun learning about how airplanes are built. Since we were with engineers, we also got to learn some of the whys and hear some funny stories. We even got to see some 787 displays. The coolest one was the tail hinge for the plane that will be bringing the body over from Japan (they aren't assembling the body here... It will come already built.) We also got to walk around and under a big 777 plane. Those things are HUGE! We even got to see a plane in the painting hanger.
One of my favorite sights had nothing to do with airplanes, though. One of the attendants had a neon yellow vest that said something like 'Danger: Horses Farting' on the back. We were figuring that she either lost a bet or owned horses. The swag was pretty cool too...
No, there were no snakes anywhere near the planes... :-)
Unfortunately, I ended up getting slightly sunburned. I suspect that the natural red tones I have in my skin makes it look worse than it is (since it really only hurts if I scratch my face...). The sunburn combined with lots of walking, however, left me feeling really wiped yesterday. It was a good thing that we didn't have any other plans. Hamburger Helper for dinner and lots of reading. I'm feeling much better today, though.
Great weekend. Now I just have to work on the stuff that needs doing before I leave...
