Oct. 9th, 2006 01:39 pmIt was a pretty fun weekend. Well, other than hearing some sad family news... Hopefully all will be well, and we're sending good thoughts and prayers their ways!
Jeff's birthday was pretty cool. I made a from-scratch pumpkin pie (like it started as a pumpkin!) for his actual birthday. It turned out pretty good... We went to dinner at our favorite Mr. Gyro's place and had fun eating out with our favorite Deb! :-) We haven't seen her in way too long... After we got back, we took pie over to one of our neighbors across the street and had a nice visit.
Jeff really enjoyed getting Star Munchkin. Thanks, Mom and Dad! He also got several other books and a cd for his birthday (including Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett!), and he is having a wonderful time deciding which to read first... :-)
Saturday was a baking-palooza day. I made fresh whole-wheat bread and from-scratch vanilla-bean angel food cake. I also set the vanilla bean pods to soak in the cream to make vanilla cream. Then Jeff and I went out to run some errands before heading to ed-board. One of the places we stopped was at Jo-Ann's. I picked up the fabric for my Halloween costume this year. It's going to be fun! :-) I don't want to spoil the joke before Halloween, but it's pirate themed... :-)
Ed-board was pretty fun. Jeff had to leave early because he was going to a friend's wake over on the peninsula. Since I didn't know the friend very well, I opted to stay at Gene and Mike's and hang out. Sky was nice enough to give me a ride home so I didn't have to wait for Jeff...
Sunday was church and gaming. It was pretty fun, even if I couldn't be there at the start (I'm not anybody...) and had to leave for a couple of hours for stake choir practice. Stake conference is next week and I couldn't miss the last rehearsal. It was still fun to see everyone!
I went to Curves again this morning. I also went out and did some grocery shopping. Now I'm cleaning up while I'm doing the laundry. I lead such an exciting life! :-) Jeff came home for lunch. I made grilled cheese sandwiches and we had pumpkin pie for dessert.
Well, I should get back to more cleaning so I can do more exciting things, like sewing... :-) Oh, and going to Fry's tonight to spend some of Jeff's birthday money! WooHoo for Fry's!
