Well, I'm starting to get the living room under control. The books destined for Friends or Half Price are in paper bags (5 so far!). The recycling is out in my trunk to take to the transfer station. We have enough that I don't think it's fair to put it out with the regular stuff and make it so that our neighbors don't have any room... :-)
The books are still being gone through, but it's coming along quite nicely.
So, I started trying the FLYlady system for getting my house back under control. She's all about the fact that your house didn't get messy over night, you shouldn't have to stress about getting it under control in a day. She's also about the power of 15 minute chunks of cleaning. I think I can handle that. I don't do everything on her sight, but the things that I've embraced have already made a difference for me! I have a clean sink cause the dishes are in the dishwasher (which ideally gets unloaded when I first get up). My toilet and bathroom sink gets swished and swiped daily. And, best of all, I'm learning that I can actually get rid of stuff. I'm learning that if I don't love it and it doesn't make me smile when I see it, it doesn't need to be in my house! Ok, so I haven't embraced it completely, but I have actually given away things this go around that I wouldn't have given away before... :-) For instance, I went through the recipes I've cut out of newspapers and magazines and got rid of a whole bunch that I most likely never will try.
Speaking of getting rid of stuff, I have a few things that will be going to DI or Craig's List that I thought you, my friends, might want dibs on.
Anyway, we have, in no particular order:
And with that, I better get back to another 15 minutes of making sure the maintenance guy can get to the kitchen and work on the sink... :-)

Anyway, we have, in no particular order:
A long, green military wool coat. Nice heavy weight, a few small holes in the collar but otherwise pretty good condition
Working Black Halogen Torchiere (with extra bulb). Finish damaged (maybe a bit of rust?) on the base but the rest looks good if you can't see the base
A set of computer speakers. Not the greatest, but not too bad either. My biggest complaint with them is that they are hardwired together and they were really hard to move around in my computer hutch.
Several lightly used notepads. These will be coming to future TaiPan events in hopes that I don't have to recycle perfectly good notebooks. Most are lined paper type. We just have too many...
Books, books, and more books. Jeff would prefer that the bunch of Traveller RPG books go to people who would actually want to use them. A couple of Star Trek RPG items. Several history type text books (art through the ages, theater arts history, Western Heritage, Visual arts history). King Lear paperback. A few cookbooks. Several SciFi/Fantasy books. You know... MisMash... :-)
Knife block minus knives. I moved all my knives onto a magnetic strip on the wall and I'm getting rid of the block they were in. Room for 6 specialty knives (chef, bread, paring...) on top and 12 steak knives below.
Several candles and a tealight lamp. Let me know if you are interested and I'll get you more info.
Possibly a table lamp. Green glass base and shade. Good working order. It depends on if I can find a home for it in my living room. The table it was on got disassembled...
And with that, I better get back to another 15 minutes of making sure the maintenance guy can get to the kitchen and work on the sink... :-)

Jeri Lynn, amazingly, I think that I am running low on lined paper notebooks, so I would be interested in some.
