(no subject)

This post coming to you live from the server box! yep. It's up and connected to the intarweb (after much fussing and restarting...).

Things I learned...
Adding a 3rd hard drive to this computer made the mouse go away (not work in any of the USB ports)
The USB network adaptor (no ethernet port on the motherboard) didn't like the first USB port I plugged it into. After several attempts to get it working and a couple of restarts, Jeff plugged it into his computer and made sure it worked in linux. Then I plugged it back into my computer, but in a different spot. Instant intarweb. who knows...

Things to do...
Get Samba working so we can interface with the other computer.
Find the website backup files (hopefully).
Set up other things like VNC, Apache, PHP...
Make a web server happen again.

Step 1... Collect Pants.
Step 2... ...
Step 3... Profit!

I have to point out that Jeri Lynn also setup the server with a RAID Array. We figured out the the right way to get that to work in the installer.

That which does not kill your server makes you smarter!

It was a joke off something... Jeff shared it with me, but I can't remember what it was from. It used to be on his Speakeasy income statements... :-)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underpants_Gnomes#The_Gnomes

The Underpants Gnomes have a three-phase business plan, consisting of:

1. Collect Underpants
2. ?
3. Profit

As Sky and others can attest, this is the business plan for many high tech companies.
