Thanks Julesong, haven't seen this before

1. When John F. Kennedy was shot (11/22/1963)
Not born (my mom was 12)

2. When Mt. St. Helens blew (5/18/1980)
I was four. I don't remember, but my mom says we didn't really get any ash anyway. I do remember haveing to write a story about the erruption in like 2nd grade. I made something up about wanting to go outside and play in the "snow."

3. When John Lennon was confirmed as murdered (12/8/1980)
No clue. I was four.

4. When Ronald Reagan was shot (3/30/1981)
I don't think I even knew who regan was until about 1986

5. When the space shuttle Challenger exploded (1/28/1986)
I was watching the launch on tv in the early morning. I couldn't believe it. I still have the newspaper articles that I cut out.

6. When the 7.1 earthquake hit San Francisco (10/7/1989)
I don't remember the actual earthquake, but I do remember listening to the radio while doing homework afterwards and praying for the victems and survivors. I also remember the images on tv.

7. When the Berlin Wall fell (11/7/1989)
I don't remember the fall (I was not into world news at this point. Or most news at all. Jr. High School was my world (and not the social either: the homework mostly). I didn't really know much about it until we studied it in my high school German class.

8. When the Gulf War began (1/16/1991)
I was really mad. I didn't really have an understanding of politics (I was a freshman in high school. When I wasn't in class or doing homework, I had my nose in a book). The day it started I had had a crappy day at school and just wanted to go to my after school choir rehearsal. Which didn't happen because everyone in the room (teacher included) was glued to the tv. Ok. I was a self-centered kid who didn't understand why schedule had to be interupted.

9. When OJ Simpson was chased in his White Bronco (6/17/1994)
I don't remember exactly where I was (The date says that I should have been at home, but I thought I remembered visiting family in Utah). I walked into the room where all my family were watching a car being chased on tv. they told me it was OJ. I thought Who? and Boring. and walked out. Later, someone told me a knock knock joke about OJ. The answer is "great! an unbiased Jury member." I was glad I didn't live in California, becuase I must have been the only one in the entire nation who still didn't know or care who OJ was (I still don't know what he looks like)

10. When the building in Oklahoma City was bombed (4/19/1995)
I was living with my grandparents in Utah, going to BYU. I came home from school to find my grandpa fuming over the images on TV. I was very sad, but I didn't like hearing my Grandpa yell "I want to kill whoever did this!" It was too much like mob mentality to me. I wanted justice done, but I wanted to make sure it was truly justice. No pointing fingers and killing someone without making sure of their guilt. I don't think I truly felt the pain of it either.

11. When Princess Di was killed (8/31/1997)
I was going crazy in college. I spent 16 to 18 hours a day on campus and didn't follow the news at all. The only reason I even knew she had been killed was that I had a roommate who was crazy about her. I found out when my roommate told me she was going to skip classes to watch the funeral. I was sad (Lady Dianna did a lot of good things), but I really dislike huge groupee folowings and tend to stay away from people that aquire them.

12. When Bush was first announced President (11/7/2000)
I was pissed. I really dislike our president. I thought before he took office that he looked like a bumbling fool. I won't go into what I think of him now. Not that I really wanted Gore either, mind. I really liked Lieberman (I think that anyone who won't campaign on his religion's sabbath has guts. Maybe he would have stood for something good).

13. When the 6.8 earthquake hit Nisqually, WA (2/28/2001)
I was working with special needs students at a junior high. Another aid and I were in art class with 2 students. We dived off our stools and protected our heads under the lip of the art table. I don't remember much about the actual quake (other than that it seemed to go on forever) because I was trying to calm a freaking student and keep him safe. Then the entire school went out to the track (our emergency place) and we spent about an hour and a half out there. At least I wasn't the aid who was changing one of the wheel chair students... It wasn't until the afternoon that I was able to call Jeffrey and tell him we were all right. I think...

14. When terrorists knocked over the World Trade Center (9/11/2001)
I rode my bike into school that day. That's why I didn't hear about it until I got to work (I usally listen to the radio in my car and would have heard it there. No tv in my studio). When I got in, all my co-workers were glued to a little tv. I thought they were kidding when they told me what happened. But then the kids got in and I got really busy. A TV was kept on in our office, but I didn't really follow what happened that day. I was really glad that most of our students were low enough that they didn't understand why all the adults were sad. The rest of the Jr. High was traumatized but our day had to be normal.

I have a fast computer! Over Christmas we went to Fry's down in Oregon (geek central huge computer store for those who don't know). We got an AMD2000 1.2gigaherz processor, 256 megs of DDR ram, and an 80 gig hard drive. The onboard sound mostly works (it does some weird things when I play pharoah). Day before Yesterday, we got an nvidea geforce2 mx videocard with 64mb so I can play neverwinter nights. ok. this is a really geeky update, but it is the coolest computer I have ever owned (Jeff's laptop doesn't count). It is much faster than the pentium two I have had for a couple of years, and much much faster than the 386 walking windows 95 that I had for most of college... :-) My dad has always worked in the computer industry (as either a hardware guy or a programmer) so I always got the hand me down computers (granted I have had a computer when most people I knew didn't, but I had my dad's newest computer to compare it to every time I went home... ;-)
