work, work, work...
Jun. 3rd, 2003 07:47 pmToday was yardwork day! After getting home from dropping Jeffrey off, I decided to do some yardwork while it was still cool. So I weeded, did some watering, ripped up the bolted kale (the stuff was almost as tall as I am--that's just wrong for something resembling lettuce...), and clipped the grass around the boxes in the back. Then I went in and did some phone calls, computer work, and cleaning. After that, I decided that a trip to Sky Nursrey was in order. I needed to get tomato plants and the honeysuckle I have been wanting for the sun corner. 2 or 3 hours later (I'm not sure exactly when I left home...) I left the nursrey to pick up Jeffrey. My yard now has some lettuce, another african violet (I had an empty self-watering pot...), 3 different tomato varieties (sunsugar, first lady, and saucy), a pinkish honeysuckle, a trumpet vine, and a passion flower. The passion flower looks WIERD! You'll all have to see my yard when you come over for editorial board meeting later this month... :-)
We also started harvesting peas yesterday, and some of the strawberries are almost ripe. The blueberries are ripening nicely, and even the trees have some fruits (there's a cherry tree in the back and a mysterious fuzzy fruit tree in the front). I love having a yard!
One of my next projects will be to finish getting the drip system put together in the front...
