Sep. 18th, 2003 06:54 amHad fun at the Fair yesterday. I watched the skys (not Sky's) all day hoping that it wouldn't start raining again. Jeffrey said we couldn't go if it was raining. We made it down to the Puyallup about 6:30 (stupid evening traffic...) and stayed until about 9-9:30. I enjoyed looking at the exhibits in the Home Arts building and Hobby building. I'm really going to get some entries in next year's fair! (Ukrainian Eggs, lace, and my wedding dress...)
We also had fun watching the hucksters. Once again, our favorite product that we can't afford is the group that will come in and paint the night sky in your room. You pick the date and year and they recreate the night sky for that night. We've been dreaming for 3 years now. I told Jeffrey that would be one of the first things we did when we got our own house... And my fair purchase this year was another 100 discgear. I got to haggle with the hawkster. It was pretty cool. I got out of tax and then got another 5 bucks knocked off the fair price. I got a GOOD deal!
And I got away with only eating 2 scones. We stopped at Jack in the Box on the way down so that we weren't too hungry at the fair. That and we can eat at Jack's for 5 bucks, not the 15-20 it would cost at the fair. And that way, we could spend our change on fun things like popcorn, lemonade, and scones. (How come the people that sell a nice size bag of popcorn for 1.75 can't go to the theaters? I might actually be willing to buy popcorn at the theaters...)
Well, I got to go look at my peaches and pears. I was going to go to a friend's for dinner tonight, but her kids have strep. And I pick up strep easy. I think we'll wait and I'll work on canning instead. Hopefully I will have gleaming rows of peaches, pears, and fruit cocktail by work tomorrow...
