Nov. 28th, 2006 11:28 amwow... The biggest snowstorm(s) of the winter and I'm down in Portland and missing it... :-) We got a bit of snow, and the roads were somewhat icy this morning, but not the thick snow I'm seeing in pictures... Granted, I'm very glad I'm not trying to drive home today. And it's nice to be hanging out with my family (and doing a card class tonight), but... I like watching snow fall. I like sitting in the warm house and watching the cold outside. I want to be decorating my house and playing Christmas music and pretending like we might actually have a white Christmas.
Ok, mini whine done... :-)
Seriously, though, it looks like I may not be coming home as scheduled tomorrow afternoon. Not if there is another storm all set to blow through Seattle and mess up the freeways. And, of course, they are talking about more snow and/or freezing rain here on Thursday. So who knows when I'll actualy get home.
All I know is that I miss my Jeffrey... :-(
In the mean time, Mom and I have been having a grand time. We had a lot of fun on our day after Thanksgiving shopping excursion. (Whyever did the stores have to start moving to a 5 am opening anyway!) Later that evening, Kevin, Jeff, and I ventured over to the Penzeys store in East Portland before heading down to Frys. Have I mentioned before how much I love Penzeys? I got some of their wonderful cocoa, a deliciously mellow smelling almond extract, some tarragon to make a dish Jeff and I just discovered and fell in love with, and some dried lemon zest that actually smells like lemons. I also got some hot cocoa mix (with mint! ack!) for my poor brother who we dragged into the store and made him smell spices. But he seemed to have fun after all and likes his cocoa mix. Frys, as usual, was lots of fun. Jeff and I have memory sticks now!
Yesterday, Mom and I did the Costco thing and then went out to lunch at a greek sandwich place. It was good, but no Mr. Gyros! :-)
Today I'm making bread and prepping for my card class tonight. I have no clue what's going on the rest of the week since I don't know when I'm coming home yet... It will be interesting for sure!
