ups and downs

This day has been all about ups and downs (and I'm not talking about the friendly man in the brown truck making a delivery...).
It was errand day. I had to run up to Lynnwood for one of my errands. I got there and realized I didn't have my purse with me. So, I had to run back down to Shoreline to get my purse and run back up to Lynnwood. I hate it when I forget stuff. But I found some really great bargains while I was up in Lynnwood. then I did our monthly Costco run. Spent more than I usually do, but we were out of some staple things... Got 10 gal of kerosene for our heater. Figured we should get a bunch before prices go up any more... Then I went to Top Foods because I got way overcharged for a loaf of french bread I bought yesterday. They have a fabulous new bread display, but you have to bag your own bread. And the cashier charged me for artesian bread (liked I'd spend $4 on something that I can make for the cost of my time...). Instead of just refunding me the difference, however, they refunded me the whole cost of the bread! That was my best news of the day.
Too bad I came home to bad news. We got our water bill today. We knew it was going to be high. But the bill said that there was a previous bill. I KNOW I (or at least Jeffrey) wrote a check because we have a carbon imprint of it. And I'm pretty sure that Jeffrey mailed the bill like he was supposed to. I mean I haven't seen it around the house anywhere... So I went online to see if the check had been cashed. And it wasn't. Niether was the electric bill check written on the same day. So, either both checks got lost in the mail, or they didn't ever get sent. Or there is some bizarre conspiracy agains us. Either way, life is going to seriously suck moneywise next month... Oh, and the water company won't waive the late fee even though the check seems to have been lost in the mail... I don't even want to think about the electric bill... sigh. I didn't need this. I wish I had some options. Any options. Other than hiding under a rock which would just be more expensive.
And we thought we were finally getting out of the money hole...
Oh well. At least I still have the rest of the day. No school for me! I'm going to start with lunch. I'm thinking burritos. Or maybe beans and rice. Or something like that. I'm trying to watch what I eat again. It would be nice to lose some more weight. I've been very good since I got back from Portland... I know that Sunday is going to be bad, so I've been very carefully avoiding the sweets to make up for it. I still have some sweet options that aren't bad. Hot cocoa made with Splenda, for example. And my vitamins are chocolate. MMMmmm... chocolate vitamins! :-) Oh, and it's ripe fruit season. I have honeycrisp apples, ripe pears, and a nummy ripe peach in the fridge. And they are good for me in addition to being sweet! :-)
After food, it's paying work time then stamping time.
I guess I should go...

I've had mail stolen a few times- I haven't put a check into a residental mailbox in years.
