It is a beautiful morning out there. At least if you look toward the north... The south has clouds moving in... :-)
These were the sorts of days I LOVED in Utah. Clear, crisp, and cold. But then you got to go into your nice warm apartment and have a cup of hot cocoa... :-) Usually there was snow on the ground and the mountains looked close enough to reach out and touch.
We went to a great restaraunt in Seattle last night. A Morrocan place called Marrekesh. Really yummy food and you eat traditional style... With your hands! They give you bread to help scoop things up and do great stuff like provide wash water before and after. It was a 5 course meal for a really reasonable price (considering how much food you got anyway!). It started out with a mildly spicy lentil soup (mmmm...) and then a tomato/cucumber "salad" (very little lettuce). Probably my favorite dish was the chicken/almond/egg cooked in a phyllo dough crust with powdered sugar and cinnamon on top. It was so good that Jeff liked it even though he doesn't normally do eggs... The main dish was pretty dang good too. I had lamb on skewers with a rice pilaf. Jeff had the chicken/couscous/veggie meal. They were both way good. We shared our meals. They finished us up with a simple pudding (not so sweet as American pudding) and orange blossom water for our hands. I would TOTALLY go there again!
After dinner last night, we headed over to Pandora house for our weekly work meeting. Go me! I found bugs to report! :-) It was good to see our friends again!
Today is all about packing. We're heading over to Winthrop tonight to spend the long weekend with Jeff's parents.
You see, 4 years ago, today, I married a certain wonderful boy. I remember being stressed right up until the point that I was standing next to that handsome man. I don't remember a lot about the ceremony except that Diane sang one of my favorite songs (accompanied by one of the teachers in the classroom where I worked. We still laugh about "little fishies?" :-) I also remember being afraid I would forget to say "I do" when the bishop got to that part... Then we had a party. And it was a great party. All our great friends and family were there (if not in body, then in spirit!). I still get warm fuzzies thinking about that whole day.
Since then, life has been a rollercoaster of the highest highs and the lowest lows. We've lost jobs, gotten new jobs, moved a few times, and learned what we DON'T want in a house. We've been grumpy and goofy, snarky and sentimental, moody and mushy. Sometimes all within a very short time period... sigh... But they were all bearable because I had a Jeffrey walking by my side. He's my perfect foil. No matter what, he always loves me. When I'm having a rough day, he's always there to hold me and tell me it will be better tomorrow. He's my cheerleader when there is something to celebrate. He has such a level head and is there to keep me from doing stupid things (or things I might regret later). No matter what I do choose, though, he is always willing to support me. He listens to me. He takes me out for ice cream therapy when I'm really stressed. He tries new foods for me and inspires me to try making new things. My Jeffrey is my all around wonderful!
I only hope I can be the same to him!
Did you know that any time we have our rings off, we ask each other all over again to "be mine?" And the answer is always "yes!"
Happy Anniversary to my favorite Jeffrey! I love you, Boy-o!

on 2006-02-16 06:17 pm (UTC)Jeri Lynn, you amaze me every day. Your kindness, your care, your talent, and your beauty.
Of course I speak of both the beauty of your appearance, and whats inside you. Every morning I awake, and I am blind. I can't see without my glasses worth anything, so its at this point I can more clearly see your real beauty--the way your mind works, and the path of your thoughts, your worries and cares and dreams. That's the greater part of you.
Four years ago I said "I do" to you, to be by your side on the path that we chose (or are forced) to take through the world.
Jeri Lynn you are my perfect foil. You remind me that I need to be better than I am right now, that I can't just be the knight in shining armor, that I need to be a Paladin. I really doubt that I have the level head in our household--you always have good ideas on how to make things better. And you listen to me--I'm terrible at listening.
And you have marvelous ideas, like going to Marrakesh and other places I wouldn't have.
Happy anniversary, my Pooka.
