It's Election Day...

Have you voted? If not, you really should. I don't know about where you live, but here in the lovely Puget Sound area, they are only predicting a 51% turnout. If you haven't turned in your ballot yet, don't forget that there may be a dropoff location near you. The one by my house is open until 8 to collect ballots!
While it sometimes feels like your vote won't really make a difference, it often does. Last year, our governor won by a very small margin. If a few hundred people more or less had voted, the outcome might have been very different!
If nothing else, I always vote so I can complain when I don't like how things are going... (well, I didn't vote for that measure/candidate/tax increase/whatever! :-)
In other news, I had a pretty busy weekend. I'm working on a website re-design for my friend. She's asked for some very specific things to be implemented. Some of them have been more of a headache than others to make work. I spent quite a bit of the weekend trying to get an article publishing database program to cooperate with the server she hosts on. I finally had to get help from the host. Despite some things I've read about them, the people I worked with were very friendly and helpful. With their help I finally got the program to use the decoding tool so I could do stuff with it. (why bother encripting software you are giving out for free?) Anyway. I mostly have it up and running. Now we're working on customizing it, and I'm just trying to ferret out a few links that aren't working correctly. Then I just have to do the rest of the site... :-) My friend is hoping to be able to earn some money off the site this time. If she does, she'll actually be paying me for the work this time. If not, well, I have another website design to put on my resume, eh?
In the middle of all that was an editorial board meeting (good to see everyone!), church, christmas music practice, choir practice, and burning learning cds for the choir.
Today I have taken it a bit more easy. I did a bit of work on my friend's site, played a bit of wow, downloaded and poked at a bit of the software I test, and now I'm getting ready for the church youth group activity.
Oh, and in exciting news, Jeff and I are going to a really cool sounding concert this Saturday! There is a Sweet Adeline quartet performing down at the Ikea Performing Arts Center. My chorus had 2 extra tickets that no one wanted to buy, so they gave them to me. How cool is that? I'm really excited! Since the concom meeting is also that day, we'll probably drive down for the meeting then go to Fry's and Ikea before going to the concert. It should make for a fun day.
And now, I better go get to work! :-)
Oh, and in the helpful tip department: if you line your crockpot with an oven cooking bag, cleanup becomes a much simpler affair. Just pull as much food out of the cooking bag as possible, pull the cooking bag out, and throw the bag away. Assuming there are no tears in the bag, you should need to clean the crock part! How cool is that? :-)
