Been a nice, quiet day. I got a bunch of paid work done today. Of course, most of it was done in the Saturn dealership while I was waiting for them to replace the brake pads...
While driving over Stevens Pass on the way to Winthrop, we started hearing a high pitched sound. We thought it was the breaks, but it stopped as we pulled into a rest area to look at them and maybe let them cool down. Since we didn't hear anything else the rest of the way to Jeff's parents, we figured we picked up a rock or something. Then we started hearing them on the way home too. So we called Saturn and asked if we could get the breaks looked at while we were getting the oil changed today. I heard the noise several more times (it was an intermittant noise) on the way to the dealership.
Well, it turns out that our front break pads were down to 1/32 (the thickness of a business card...) and the back brakes were down to 2/32, which is the legal limit. Good thing we had money in the bank...
So I spent a couple of hours hanging around at the dealership. But, since I was also working, I figured I was being paid to hang around and wait... Not to bad of a deal... :-)
Now I'm really glad that we made it to Winthrop and back safely... :-)
So it's really pretty outside right now. Part of me wants to go out and do some weeding. I haven't decided if I'm going to yet. I just started making bread. I suppose I could weed during the bread rise periods... hmmmmm..... decisions, decisions, decisions...
